Educational film about energy for students
For Energy Day this year, an educational film about energy entitled “The Power Move. Energy Transformation” is being shown to Lithuanian students for the first time. This 45-minute documentary explains the Lithuanian energy sector’s path towards energy independence, the challenges and solutions of climate change, and the role each of us play in creating a sustainable energy future.
Commissioned by the Ministry of Energy and the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA), the film was produced by the film and audio-visual content production company Anaben.
“While generating ideas and reading about the history of the energy sector, we very quickly understood that this is not just energy freedom – it’s a story about the independence of an entire nation. Sometimes we would sit there in the editing room and smile to ourselves, because we realised that we were telling a story that we were just beginning to live,” says Laurynas Andriušis, who directed the film.
The film looks at how the Lithuanian power system is currently being transformed – electricity generation is being expanded, renewable resource projects are being developed with onshore solar power plants and wind turbines, offshore wind energy development is beginning, and biofuel technologies are being implemented. In line with the roadmap for halting climate change, the use of fossil fuels in energy will be gradually phased out.
The film also highlights the European Union’s contribution to the development of renewable energy resources in Lithuania. European Union investments are an important driver in this transformation. They not only accelerate change, but also have a direct impact on everyday life and the business environment.
The film is meant to be for high school and university students. The purpose of the film is to help young citizens understand how, by contributing to energy independence, every person and business is also strengthening the country’s entire energy sector.
