Researchers working at the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) implement research, development and innovation projects and work under contracts with various institutions. Technologies for sustainable development and energy are among the priority directions of activities of KTU. Eleven research groups conduct investigations in this area.

The National Centre for Innovation and Business (NIVC) operating under the KTU represents a link between research and business; it is responsible for smooth mutual collaboration, commercialisation of latest technologies created at the KTU, protection of intellectual property, and development of young entrepreneurs business.
