Mr Kreivys: An important step has been taken in taking over the management of electricity

The Baltic electricity transmission network operators Litgrid of Lithuania, Auspriegum Tikls of Latvia and Elering of Estonia have jointly agreed to refuse system services from Russia, which were supplied by the Inter RAO group of companies.

“I welcome this important agreement between the Baltic electricity operators. This is an important step in taking the management of the Baltic power systems into our own hands,” said Mr Dainius Kreivys, Minister of Energy.

Following the decision of the operators, the Baltic operators will balance the power system jointly. After the technical Russian electricity flows for the balancing of the system are refused, system services will be provided using only the Baltic, Nordic and Polish reserve capacities.
